Walk-Up Floor Plan
A walk-up design for a new home indicates that you have a two-storey floor plan. The main living area is located on the upper floor, giving you and your family easy access to most of the indoor living space on one level. For example, the kitchen, dining area and great room are located here, as well as the master bedroom and other bedrooms. Dedicated spaces for laundry, an office, a den, or an exercise room are typically on the lower level. Walk-Out Floor Plan
Homes designed for a walkout floor plan are typically located on a lot that is slightly sloped and therefore accommodates a two-level home. The entrance to the home is located at ground level which opens up to the main floor where the great room, kitchen, dining room and bedrooms are located. The lower floor, or basement, can be finished or unfinished and can provide an expanded living space that can be used for additional bedrooms, a den or office, or for guest accommodation. An outdoor patio is accessible from this level, leading to the backyard.
